Dr.Niharika Kulshrestha, Physics/ Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India

Research Area:

Ion conducting Polymer electrolytes.

Research Experience:

Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) based polymer electrolyte films have been prepared using solution cast technique. These films were characterized for structural, thermal, spectroscopic, electrical and dielectric properties. Structural study is done mainly by using X-ray diffraction and Scanning electron microscopy. Spectroscopic study involves Fourier Transform Infra-red spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fluorescence spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Thermal studies have been using Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Thermogravimetric analysis. Electrical studies have been done using AC impedance spectroscopy. Dielectric parameters can also be known from AC impedance spectroscopy. In results, PVA based films were found to have better thermal stable films and good quality films were obtained. These films were found to have conductivity of the order of 10-3 S/cm. These films can have application in electrochemical devices such as batteries and fuel cells.
