Prof. Fung-Chi Ko

National Dong-Hwa University,Taiwan

Research Area:

Trace environmental analysis of persistent pollutants, Biogeochemical cycles of environmental pollutants, Bioaccumulation and biomagnification of persistent organic contaminants, Ecotoxicology, Microplastic contaminants, Marine, estuarine and coral reef ecology, Marine biodiversity

Research Experience:

Fung-Chi Ko earned BS. and MS. degrees in Marine Biology from CCU and NSYSU, Taiwan and a PhD. degree in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland, US. He is a professor at Graduate Institute of Marine Biology, National Dong-Hwa University, and a research fellow at National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, Taiwan. Dr. Ko's research interests center about the environmental analysis of trace organic contaminants, the dynamics of contaminant distribution and transport in marine and coastal environment including coral reef and estuaries, and modeling the exposure and transfer of bioaccumulative chemicals in aquatic food webs. He has authored over hundred technical papers and conference proceeding on contaminant cycling in the Chesapeake Bay, US, and the coastal waters and coral reef in Taiwan. He was a member of the Soil and Groundwater Remediation Fund Management Board Committee of Taiwan EPA, chaired the Marine and Coastal Environmental Research Group in NMMBA, and served on the Board of Directors of Chinese-American Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (COAA).
