Research Experience:

Dr. Andrew Levers is the Technical Director of the Virtual Engineering Centre (University of Liverpool) based in Daresbury Warrington. The Virtual Engineering Centre is the UKs leading research centre for virtual engineering, simulation and autonomous systems, having an impressive, sustained track record of research and business transformation brought about through the adoption of digital technologies. Prior to this Andrew was Technical Director at Survitec Group, a designer and manufacturer of personal survival equipment and oxygen systems. In this role Andrew was responsible for design and manufacturing engineering functions including technology and R&D route mapping and the management of global engineering services on major aircraft platforms including Eurofighter Typhoon, F-35, F16, F18, F22.

 

Until May 2013, Andrew served as the R&D Integration Manager at Airbus Operations and in a 20 year career held a variety of senior technical and strategic positions within Airbus Operations that has led to several cutting edge technology development projects, including the implementation of the Creep Age forming process on the Airbus A380 a project for which he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Institute of Materials Minerals and Mining in 2004. In addition he has been involved in the establishment of a Professorship in Aircraft Systems Installation at Cranfield University as well as being Project Leader for the THERM project co-funded by the UK Technology Strategy Board, which developed methods for scalable modeling of resource energy and waste streams in industrial systems. Andrew has delivered several keynote and prestige lectures including the Sir Geoffrey de Havilland Lecture to the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Bi-annual Dickinson Lecture to the Newcomen Society. Andrew is an active member of the International Scientific Committee on Shot Peening, a Visiting Research Fellow at Cranfield University as well as a Visiting Professor at Glyndwr University.
