Brief introduction of research:

Dr Dezhi Li is currently a Senior Research Fellow working in WMG, the University of Warwick. He is currently working in various projects related to automotive lightweighting, structure joining for body-in-white, joining for electric vehicle battery packs and electric machines. He has been doing various projects regarding the joining of lightweight vehicle structures and electric vehicle battery tab joining in close collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover, Tata Motor European Technique Centre, JCB, Alexander Dennis, Delta Motor, Panasonic, Telsonic, and TVS etc. His main research responsibilities include leading the research on self-piercing riveting and resistance spot welding, providing technical support for partner companies' product design and production (such as structure optimisation, material characterization, and joining ability of new materials), leading the research on electric vehicle battery tab joining and other joining related to electric machines, and developing new Additive Layer Manufacturing processes. He also teaches undergraduate and MSc modules for Automotive Engineering. He is in the editorial board of the Journal of Material Science and Technology Research.

Prior to joining WMG, he worked in Loughborough University in various projects on Electronic Packaging and Additive Layer Manufacturing. He has a PhD on Electronic Packaging from Loughborough University in 2005, an MSc on Material Science from University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2002, and a BEng on Material Engineering from Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 1999.
