Prof. Zhang Hengjia, born in November 1974, Ph.D./Pstdoctoral. He is a doctoral tutor as well the Deputy Dean of College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering, Gansu Agricultural University. He’s also a member of the College Agricultural Engineering Professional Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Chinese Agriculture Industrialization expert in Agricultural Industrialization Branch of China Association of Agricultural Science, Distinguished Professor of Gansu Feitian Scholars Project, Gansu Young Talent Teacher, and a member of the Academic Committee of Gansu Agricultural University. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Irrigation and Drainage, a reviewer for Crop Science, Journal of Integrative Agriculture (formerly Agricultural Sciences in China), Environmental Earth Science, Agricultural Science Research Journal, African Journal of Agricultural Research, Transactions of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, Arid Land Geography, Transactions of the Chinese Society for Agricultural Machinery, Chinese Journal of Eco-Agriculture.


In June 1997, He graduated from Gansu Agricultural University in agricultural water conservancy engineering. In June 2000, he obtained a master's degree in agronomy. In July of the same year, he began to teach in the College of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering of Gansu Agricultural University. In June 2005, he obtained a Ph.D from Lanzhou University majoring in ecology. In April 2009, he finished his postdoctoral research in CAREERI, CAS. Participated in the Planning and Managing the Water Resource training course of Sino-Italian cooperation project in Italy (Rome) from February to April 2004. In November-December 2006, he participated in the international training courses of Agriculture and Environment: Practices and Processes in Soil and Water at the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture (Tel Aviv). And Processes in Soil and Water" international training course. In 2013, he was approved to grant full funding for the special program for talent training in the Western Region of the China Scholarship Council. He is mainly devoted to the teaching and research work of the efficient use of agricultural water and soil resources.


In terms of scientific research, he mainly uses wheat, corn, Jerusalem artichoke, potato, processed tomato, pumpkin, and radix isatidis as research materials in the oasis irrigation area to develop adaptation strategies for water deficits in oasis crops with the goal of improving agricultural yield and efficient water use, and the possible influencing mechanism. In recent years, he has presided over (10 items) and participated (9 items) to complete 19 scientific research projects at various levels, including 1 NNSF of China and 5 provincial projects. 1 project awarded as the third prize for scientific and technological progress in Gansu Province in 2009. At present, he presides over 1 NNSF of China, 1 key research and development project of Gansu Province and 1 Science and Technology Innovation Fund of Gansu Agricultural University (special fund for discipline construction). He has published more than 120 research papers as the first author (or corresponding author) in SCI, EI journals and national core journals such as Agricultural Water Managemen, Canadian Journal of Plant Scienc, Pedosphere, Scientific Report, Transactions of the Chinese Society for Agricultural Machinery, Acta Ecologica Sinica, Journal of Soil and Water Conservation, etc., of which 4 published in SCI journals, 18 in EI journals, 1 in ISTP, and more than 80 in national core journals. In addition, he also edited and published 2 academic monographs.
