Research Experience:

Dr P Balasubramanian is (post-doctoral) Research Fellow in the Hardware and Embedded Systems Lab of the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Madras, India in 1998; Master’s degree in Technology with specialization in VLSI System from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India in 2005; and earned his PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, UK in 2010. His PhD research was funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), UK, and the School of Computer Science at the University of Manchester, UK. He has many years of postdoctoral research experience at universities in UK and Singapore. His postdoctoral research works were funded by the EPSRC, UK; Ministry of Defence, Singapore; and the Ministry of Education, Singapore.

Dr Balasubramanian has taught at higher education institutions in India. He has supervised 15 Master’s student projects and 6 Bachelor’s student projects, assisted with the supervision of PhD students at NTU, and also co-supervised 2 junior college students in the Nanyang Research Programme who won gold and silver awards in the Nanyang Research Programme Symposium in 2018. He has published over 90 research papers predominantly as the lead author in international journals and conferences including 2 invited journals and 2 invited conference publications. He is a senior member of the IEEE, member of many IEEE technical committees, and a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education. He served/serves on the technical program and steering committees of several international conferences. He also served/serves as a reviewer for 25+ international journals and 25+ international conferences. He was recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer by Microelectronics Reliability (Elsevier) in 2016; Computers and Electrical Engineering (Elsevier) in 2017 and 2018; and Integration, the VLSI Journal (Elsevier) in 2018. His research interests include approximate computing, reliability and fault-tolerant design, asynchronous circuits and systems, logic synthesis, and computer arithmetic.
