Research Experience:
I am a revolutionary Marxist scholar who specializes in Marxist theory, critical pedagogy and socialist studies. My work involves developing critical pedagogies that create spaces of critical inquiry into the nature of transnational capitalism and developing socialist alternatives to capitalist value production. I also specialize in liberation theology, which developed in Latin America to defend the impoverished peasant populations against fascist governments and US imperialist aggression. I worked in 2005-6 in Venezuela to help President Chavez build rural universities for the poor. I also work with Instituto McLaren de Pedagogia Critica, in Mexico, and am an honorary member of the Mexican Communist Party. Instituto McLaren works to develop programs of critical pedagogy for use within Mexican educational contexts.
