Dr. Dahunsi Olatunde Samuel

Landmark University, Nigeria

Research Area: Environmental Biotechnology (Biomass, Bioenergy, Bioproducts, Organic Agriculture)

Research Experience:

My research career started eight years ago when I started my Postgraduate studies and was inducted into the ever-interesting world of qualitative research. I worked with the Environmental Management and Impact Assessment Research Group at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Nigeria where my impacts were felt in both practical and writing aspects. Currently, I am working in collaboration with research groups in some Universities including All Saints University, St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Universidade Federal de Vicosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil; University of Cardiz, Spain (working in collaboration with Dr. Zahedi Soraya for the past years); Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria as well as the Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria. To date, I have published well over 40 research articles in peer-reviewed journals. In more than 50% of the published articles, I am the lead and corresponding author. Most of our research activities focus on the exploitation of African biomass for biofuel generation and utilization as a means to augment the epileptic energy supply currently being experienced in parts of Sub-Saharan Africa and to fully characterize the microorganisms responsible for the bioconversion of these biomass thereby creating a robust Microbial databank for the region. Presently, my research endeavor focuses on Waste management (special bias in Biogas and Biofertilizer generation and utilization) and Sustainable Agriculture. In the past five years, I have successfully supervised a total of 33 B.Sc., HND and OND projects. In addition, I have co-mentored 4 students at the PGD and M.Sc. level. I have received some travel fellowships including the TWAS travel grants to present my research findings at international conferences. Administratively, I had opportunity to head the Department of Environmental Health, at the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese-Ijebu, (Ifo Campus), Ogun State, Nigeria prior to joining Landmark University, Nigeria.
