Research Experience:

Dr. I. Arul Aram is Professor, Department of Media Sciences, Anna University, Chennai. He was Director of UGC's Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC) during 2010-2011. He headed the Department of Media Sciences, Anna University, during 2012-2014. He is formerly a Chief Sub-Editor with The Hindu newspaper. He had also served as the President of the Madras Press Club. He has been a resource person for UNESCO training programmes on Media in Jaffna. He had presented papers in several national and international conferences, and published 135 papers. He has published five books: Television in Education (Orient Longman 1993), Understanding News Media (Vijay Nicole 2006), Understanding Development Communication (Media House 2007), Media, Technology and Society (UELCI-ISPCK 2008), and Communication Strategies for Coastal Communities (Academic Publishing 2011). He specializes in the areas of Environmental Science, Science Communication, and Communicating Climate Change. He was a post-doctoral fellow of the London School of Economics. Sixteen scholars have gained their Ph.D. and 20 scholars M.Phil. under his supervision. He had undertaken funded projects of UGC, DST, UNESCO, UNICEF, UKIERI, IGCAR and MHRD
