Research Experience:

Prof. Jingfu Zhang mainly engaged in drilling fluid, completion fluid mechanics and chemistry, oil and gas well engineering mechanics research work:

In terms of drilling fluid mechanics, the problem such as “the helical flow law of drilling fluid in eccentric annulus”, “cuttings carrying law and capacity of drilling fluid in horizontal wells” etc. were studied. The calculation formulas of viscosity function, velocity function, flow rate and pressure of eccentric annulus helical flow were provided. In the study of solid-liquid two-phase flow in horizontal well,  cuttings bed three layer migration model and the evaluation parameters and indexes of cuttings carrying capacity of drilling fluid were put forward for the first time.

In terms of oil well cement chemistry research, it mainly focuses on the hydration and hardening mechanism and law, corrosion mechanism of oil well cement in the deep wells with high temperature and corrosive complex environment. A method for the analysis of the composition and microstructure of the hardening cement by X-ray diffract meter and SEM was provided. The hot and difficult problems in oilfield production such as high temperature resistant cement slurry system, cement slurry system of heavy oil steam recovery well and corrosion resistant cement system design were studied.

In the aspect of oil and gas well engineering and mechanics, the research work on mechanics of cement stone, integrity of cement sheath structure, cementing mechanics of complex pressure environment and cementing design and construction management of adjustment well is systematically carried out. The finite element mechanics model and structural integrity failure criteria of cement sheath were established. Effects of load in casing for loading and unloading, mechanical constitutive relation of stratum and cement, and mechanical parameters of cement, etc. on the stress and structural integrity of cement sheath in the process of oil and gas well construction were analyzed systematically. A new method for calculating and analyzing the formation leakage pressure was established, and the concept of narrow pressure window was proposed.
